- Read and discuss Psalm 139:13-14, Jeremiah 29:11, and James 1:18.
- Know how to stay safe if you are home alone.
- Know how to stay safe when using the internet.
- Know how to stay safe if an adult or older child:
- asks you to go with them.
- wants to give you something.
- asks for help or directions.
- tries to touch you.
- asks you to keep a secret.
- Know what to do if you get lost in a public place or when hiking.
Helps
- Explain that God loves and cares for each of the children and wants them to be safe.
- Search the internet for home safety tips for children. Have the children act out all of the safety tips.
- Search the internet for a video about kids' internet safety. Watch and discuss the video.
- Practice the above scenarios. Search the internet for people smarts and kid safety for great ideas to help with this activity.
- Develop and practice a possible family safety plan for if you're lost. A quick internet search about teaching kids what to do if they get lost will give you additional ideas.
Leader's Note
